On 20 July 2024, Techbase Consultant Services took part in Rise Conference 1.0 at RCCG Funduk, Ibadan, as both a primary sponsor and a featured speaker. The conference was organised by the Healing Lives Initiative and was aimed at challenging teenagers and young people to rise to excellence in their own spheres of influence.

Why we supported it

Our work with young people does not stop at teaching code. Many of the skills that make a good technologist are also life skills: courage to try new things, persistence when something fails and the confidence to lead. Events like this give young people encouragement and role models.

Our part

  • Sponsorship, to help the organisers deliver the day.
  • A talk by our founder and CEO, Babatunde Awoyemi, sharing insights with the attendees.
  • A place in the book launch held during the event, in support of new thought leadership.

What we took from it

When young people are told that someone expects great things of them, they often live up to it. We left encouraged by the energy in the room and by the organisers' commitment.
