On 2 May 2026, over fifty primary school pupils from public and private schools across Akinyele Local Government Area gathered at Funduk Hall, Moniya, for the first Akinyele Spelling Challenge, organised by Ivory Educational Resources.

Our part

Techbase Consultant Services supported the event, and our founder and CEO, Babatunde Awoyemi, served as Head of Program and Logistics, coordinating the rundown from contestant check-in at 7:30 AM to the prize presentation and group photographs.

Why a technology company backed a spelling contest

We care about coding, robotics and AI, but all of them rest on language. A child who can read carefully and express ideas precisely is learning to think precisely, and that is the first step before writing a line of code. Supporting literacy is supporting the future technologists of this community.

The winners

Olatunji Treasure took first place, Luqman Abdulsalam second and Ejiro Bethel third. Every contestant showed courage in front of a hall full of people.

What is next

The organisers plan Maths and Science challenges later this year, and we look forward to supporting them.
